PHARMACEUTICAL WASTE

Pharmaceuticals include, but are not limited to, prescription and over-the-counter medications, veterinary medications and nutritional supplements. Healthcare facilities must have the appropriate container to dispose of this waste stream (typically white with blue lid).

There are also some pharmaceuticals that are classified as Hazardous (RCRA) and will be placed into a black container, and still others are considered on different schedules and have to be disposed of through a DEA approved facility.
